However, there are growing concerns about how these technologies could exacerbate existing social inequalities and lead to further discrimination. If not properly regulated and developed with inclusivity in mind, robotics could widen the gap between socioeconomic classes, perpetuate biases, and leave marginalized groups at a disadvantage.

To ensure that robotics contributes to societal progress rather than division, robust safeguards must be put in place. These safeguards should focus on promoting fairness, inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. In this blog, we will explore the essential safeguards that need to be implemented to prevent robotics from exacerbating inequality or discrimination.

Key Concerns About Inequality and Discrimination in Robotics

Before diving into the safeguards, it is important to understand the specific ways in which robotics could worsen inequality or discrimination:

  1. Bias in Algorithms: Robotics powered by AI often rely on large datasets to make decisions. If these datasets are biased (due to underrepresentation of certain groups, skewed data, or historical inequities), robots can perpetuate and amplify existing biases in their decision-making processes.
